The ultimate moto rally, with luxury accommodation
From Porto heading south, the terrain quickly shifts from rocky, technical mountain paths in the Minho and Douro regions to faster forest singletrack and flowing fire roads through central Portugal’s pine and eucalyptus ranges. Expect a mix of granite steps, loose shale climbs, river crossings, and old shepherd trails that reward precise throttle control. As you descend toward the Ribatejo and Alentejo, the landscape opens into rolling plains with sandy ruts, red-clay tracks, and long, undulating farmland lanes where you can finally stretch the bike’s legs.
Riding northbound from Faro, you start with the Algarve’s classic hard-pack hills, stone-strewn climbs, and winding barrocal trails before pushing into the Alentejo’s wide open terrain. The sand pockets, cork-oak woods, and fast rural tracks gradually tighten as you move north, giving way to rugged, more technical highland routes near Coimbra and the Serra da Freita. The final push into the Porto region delivers cooler air, steeper gradients, and concentrated technical features—rock gardens, step-ups, switchbacks—that make the last stretch a satisfying challenge for any enduro rider.
Across the seven-day ride, the food is as varied as the terrain. In the north, riders can fuel up on hearty dishes like francesinha, grilled meats, and rich bolo de bacalhau, paired with Douro valley wines. As you move south, meals shift toward lighter, countryside flavors—chouriço, cheese boards, rustic stews, and wood-fired oven plates. By the time you reach the Algarve, the menu becomes all about fresh seafood: cataplana, grilled sardines, octopus salad, and regional sweets. Each region has its own specialties, turning every refuel stop into another highlight of the trip.
